§ 10-2. Unlawful carrying of handgun or weapons.

  • The City of Pickens Police Department fully intends to enforce S.C. Code § 16-23-20, regarding the unlawful carrying of handguns.

    It is unlawful for anyone to carry about the person any handgun, whether concealed or not, except as provided in S.C. Code § 16-23-20, unless otherwise specifically prohibited by law.

    Any person carrying a dirk, sling shot, metal knuckles, razor and/or other deadly weapons usually used for the infliction of injury on or about his or her person unlawfully, whether concealed or not, shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof, the municipal court shall forfeit to the city the weapon so carried.

    Nothing contained in this section shall be construed to apply to persons carrying weapons concealed or not upon their premises or to peace officers in the actual discharge of their duties as such.
